Fish tanks FAQs

Can my saltwater fish survive in fresh water for a few hours until I get my aquarium completely set up?

Even though there is a chance, it is probably not something that you would want to risk. Because saltwater fish have lived in that kind of water their whole lives, that is all they know. Putting one of these fish in fresh water could harm it a great deal. Even if one does survive for a while in fresh water, it may just be because he is a fighter. It is similar to all species. They might be able to adapt to something for a short time period, but not forever.

What kind of accessories will I need to set up a nice aquarium?

There are some obvious things that you will need. This includes algae, filters, cleaning tablets, plants, etc . . . But, there are other things that you don’t absolutely need, but may want to have anyway. These items include things like fluorescent lights, fun toys and rocks and caves. It should be remembered that although the necessities are absolute musts, this doesn’t mean that you should forget about some of the things that are nice for fish to have, even f not necessary.

As long as the fish are saltwater fish, can I put any variety of fish together in the tank?

No. If you want for all of your fish to thrive and survive, you need to check with manuals or pet stores to find out which kinds of fish can cohabitate. Putting fish that are not compatible together in the same aquarium could mean danger for your fish and nothing but problems for you. This is true for almost all kinds of fish. It’s better to do your research than to find out the hard way that you made a mistake.
